Power Cost Recovery Factor

Power Cost Recovery Factor, or PCRF is the amount of money charged to generate electricity that was not included in our rate base structures in 2001. Our rates have not changed since that time. However, the price we pay our power supplier, Brazos, has increased due to the fuel mix and price of fuel used to generate the power our customers use. Countless newspaper articles and TV media coverage have outlined the increase in the cost of fuels used to generate power, or simply operate our vehicles.

PCRF is an item you will see on your electric bill. It is shown as a number (ex. .045) and is the amount per kwh that is passed from our power provider for the fuel that is used to generate electricity. This PCRF can change from month to month, based on the cost of the fuel used to generate electricity.

The money collected for PCRF is collected on a penny for penny basis. Therefore, only the amount needed to recover for increased power cost is collected.
